Public Health Associate Program

phap_logoPUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATE PROGRAM (PHAP) is a 2-year entry-level, full-time employment and career development training program designed to prepare recent graduates hands-on, frontline experience in the day-to-day operations of public health programs. You must be a recent graduate (GPA 3.0) with a bachelorís or masterís degree beginning a career in public health. Upon successful completion of the program, PHAP associates are qualified to compete for entry-level career positions at CDC and other public health organizations.


1.                   PHAP is open to recent graduates with a minimum of a bachelorís degree.  Refer to job postings for required qualifications.

2.                   Applicants must be willing to accept and relocate (if necessary) to positions within the 50 United States and its territories. Relocation expenses are NOT authorized.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for a position, you must meet the minimum qualifications.


Minimum qualifications (one of the following):

GS-05: Applicants must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree within the past 2 years or will have earned a bachelor's degree by July 1, 2016. Candidates still enrolled in school must provide school enrollment verification detailing pending degree completion.

Veterans precluded from applying due to military service obligation have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. This period may not be extended beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic study towards fulfilling a degree.
